Northumbria Fashion BA (Hons) continued its success at Graduate Fashion Week in 2011: Carl James Illingworth was shortlisted for the Graduate Fashion Week Gold and the Menswear Award; and the Mulberry Accessories Award was won by Mollie Abigail Ratcliff.
Already this year the programme has 2 students, Kamille Davis and Rebecca Byers, shortlisted for the Mittelmoda 2012 Awards, and students placed in jobs after graduation.
Established over 60 years ago, Fashion at Northumbria’s School of Design is internationally recognised for producing innovative and hands on designers. Design communication, conceptual thinking, image presentation and of course individuality are just some of the qualities which combine to drive fashion forward. Over the four years you study with us you will develop your own distinctive design handwriting so that when you graduate you will be ready to make your mark on the world of fashion too.
In year one you get the chance to investigate and experiment with a diverse range of fashion disciplines including menswear, womenswear, textiles/knitwear. By year two you are ready to choose your specialism and can really begin to hone your craft. Through a combination of tutorial guidance, project ‘crits’, lectures, competitions, team projects and placements you will build your understanding, expertise and portfolio. By your final year you can realise your personal vision through a capsule collection conceived, developed and presented by you.
