Student Film Festival London 2012

International students from over 38 countries are flocking to London this February 3rd to 5th to take part in a celebration of young filmmakers and their work.  The event, to be held in collaboration with the University of the Arts London, is unique in its mission to provide a constructive platform for bridging the gap between students in the arts and the professional world.

Student Film Festival London is heralded as the first of its kind, promising to “fill a crucial gap in the existing market for international competitive festivals featuring student works.”  The event highlights the manner in which new technology, access to digital platforms, and changing demands of global audiences can be harnessed by budding talent to engage, challenge, and entertain.  Furthermore, the festival highlights the diversity of creative students and recent graduates, thereby increasing audience awareness of a wider film market and duplicity of voices.

With a star studded judging panel including such notables as Actor and Producer Simon Peg, Jabez Olssen (Editor of the Lord of the Rings Triology), and animator Alex Williams (The Lion King) among many others, the event promises a wide range of opportunities for those hoping to enter the film industry.  London is one of the most multinational cities in the world and as such, is the ideal venue for highlighting the creative talent that comes not only from British students but from students around the world.

Tickets can be purchased at the door but to avoid disappointment, book early here at SFFLondon.org.

Tickets are £15 for three days or £3 per screening.

Additional sister events are to be held in Beijing and Mumbai simultaneously with festival coverage appearing on online cinema for emerging filmmakers GARAGE. The first year in operation, SFFL promises an exciting and engaging spotlight on the changing nature of the student film making community on a global level.
