New India Designscape, Triennale Design Museum

Exhibition of the week is New India Designscape at the Triennale Design Museum, Milan. Running from December 14 2012 to February 24 2013, the exhibition looks at different aspects of design in India today, from products that reference the old-standing cultural aspects as well as the influences of colonial rule. The development of ‘barefoot design’ in bringing low-cost technical solutions to the poorest regions of the country is also examined, alongside the re-discovery and reworking of traditional craftsmanship.
