Narrative is very important in my work, it is where I start and finish. The short stories I write inform my making greatly and it is how I visualise the objects I will make. For this self-directed study I wrote a poem and two short fictional tales from which I created silver objects that are subject to a single theme, the silver birch tree. Through researching the folklore and visual attributes of the silver birch tree I have comprised a series of narratives and objects that personify the uses and beliefs of this magic tree, making them tangible and real.
