My work reflects my love of order and balance. I like to work with multiples and series, often using collage, to create compositions. I am often influenced by architectural features.

Everything starts in my sketchbooks. I collect all sorts of things that I think might be useful: paper, maps, text, newspapers, record sleeves, photos, postcards and so forth. I also create sheets of texture by painting, scratching and adding materials such as sand and glue. I delve into these collections to create two dimensional collaged compositions. 

My ceramic work follows this approach.  I make a large variety of forms from which I select the right pieces for a composition. I then use coloured glazes, vitreous slips and transfers as unifying accents. The manganese rich, black firing clay provides a dramatic contrast. 

I am currently using the wheel and throwing as a way of making. Like the forms I make, the surface treatment tends to be clean and simple, often with a graphic quality.
