I am currently using photographic images, predominantly of faces, printed directly onto porcelain clay which I then push and stretch and fragment to create a collage of distorted reality which is then incorporated into my ceramic sculptures. I'm also interested in movement, real or illusionary, either through mechanisms or by using multiple images.

In my latest sculptures the optical illusion of convex and concave faces causes the deception of movement. The outside shape is seen as a mask and also a house or container for the whole person. 

There is an underlining menace in my work, a glimpse of the dark side conjoined with an unusual humour. I am trying to create unreal, uncanny sculptures as a reflection of our own unfamiliar, fragmented and disjointed world. I also want to make people think and laugh. By using the power of the uncanny I think that you can touch people more - get under their skin.

I want my work to be touched and interacted with, to be thought provoking.
