I am a Textile Designer who specialises in embroidery and lace making.

I am particularly interested in the positive and negative space created by the lines and spaces of lace structures and the opportunity that this creates for light and shadow.

I explore these qualities using traditional lace making techniques and also machine stitch to mimic these qualities.

I am interested in building on my basic lace making knowledge to help try and preserve this fascinating, highly skilled technique, so that it can be passed on to future generations.

‘Adapt or perish, now as ever, is Nature’s inexorable imperative’ (H.G Wells) and the same could be said for design. Therefore, whilst I am interested in learning the traditional techniques I recognise that it is important to make them relevant within current design and this was the aim of my current collection.
