Billie Christopher ?
As a knitted textile designer I aim to create visually exciting pieces that challenge the boundaries of traditional knitting.
I enjoy manipulating my knitted fabric with other techniques such as print and beading in order to apply different textures and colours that threaten the restrictions that exist within knit.
project 1
With this garment I used shades of black to highlight the different areas of texture, creating tassels and fringing.
Project 2
The main focus of my work is to experiment with different ways of applying colour through knitting without using the traditional techniques such as stripes and intarsia. This lead me to experimenting with print and bleach in order to implement colour in
Project 3
The original inspiration of my work came from drawing and painting from close up images of butterflies, that inspired me to translate the elegance and fluidity of the colour and pattern into my delicate knitted pieces.
