I have just graduated with a first class BSc (hons) degree, and am eager start my career in the design industry.
Please look through my folio at freecalum.co.uk and CV, hopefully I have portrayed myself fairly! I have experience in the design industry; 3 months work for Orange labs in london and worked on graphics for a film production company.
I have dabbled in photography, traditional art, charity work, modelling, set design and graphic design (I'm sure there is much more!) . I am passionate that, as an interaction and experience designer, I make a difference to real peoples lives. This is demonstrated by my final project at university - Subtle Subtitles - and shows how I would like to continue my development as a designer.
Calum Pringle : Curriculum Vitae
I am a passionate interaction designer, passionate for meaningful and thought provoking design that is actually of benefit to others.
This enthusiasm is reflected in my final year project which exhibits my feelings towards the development of communication design, and the way we interact with products meant for assistance.
My artistic mind lead me to study Interactive Media Design, where I identified that my highly transferable skills could have more practical application. Since joining Interactive Media Design at Dundee I delved into computer arts and design, and developed my skill set tenfold.
I have enjoyed experience in the industry, through internship(s) in interaction and graphic design in London, and am eager to further my experience and begin my career.

other experience
My previous work experience has been varied, as is true of most student work, however I think this speaks of my versatility - I have been a fruit seller, a Chinese takeaway deliverer and a waiter.
I was employed at a call centre fulfilling market research, and was promoted to the fraud department for an established supermarket (references available upon request), totalling 1 year and 4 months.
I also was a full time carer for my mother for 3 months in 2006. Alongside my studies I have also renovated a flat, which has been an enjoyable and profitable hobby.
education
2006-2010 : 1st class BSc (Hons) Interactive Media Design at the University of Dundee, Scotland. Due to graduate in June 2010.
2000-2006 : Inverkeithing High School, Scotland; Advanced Higher Drama, Higher Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics, Drama and Art: Grade A.
software skills
To create my work I use a variety of software packages and programming languages. I am proficient in the adobe creative suite - photoshop, flash, illustrator and indesign and I use final cut regularly.
I am comfortable with html, css and actionscript; and I have also played with javascript and php. This list is non-exhaustive; my true talent lies in my sense of aesthetic and interaction; prototyping and conceptualisation - I use these more technical skills as a means to an end - I learn what I need to to achieve my goal.
interests
My interests are varied, from interaction and communication design, graphic design to illustration, traditional art to theatre, photography, piano, travel, and keeping fit.
I have explored Europe, America and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia) and I have also been the regional contact in Dundee and Fife for the charity Ataxia UK; driven by my interest in inclusive design as demonstrated by my final year project (see my portfolio for more details).
Having researched the state of assistive design met by people with physical disability, I realised the need to immerse myself in a user group before considering designing an interaction that could be of assistance. Collectively my interests have directly benefited my work as a student Interaction Designer, demonstrated in my portfolio.
