From the lattice work windows of Amber Palace to dancing figures and birds circling intricate buildings, my textiles explore the colours and imagery from my experiences of India.
Exploring painterly marks, layering and unusual colour combinations, and influenced by artist designed textiles from the 1920s to the 1960s, from Raoul Dufy to Henry Moore and John Piper, ideas are translated onto silk, linen and cotton to create simple yet effective fabrics.
Using modern technology is an important aspect of my work; I am able to bring the artistic approach to textiles into the 21st century, echoing the use of new technology by companies pioneering artist designed textiles in the mid 20th century.
Digital print and laser cutting alongside traditional screen printing are used to produce sustainable fabrics that transcend trends and have a lasting value. By keeping ideas simple and using colour as the focus, this collection of high end interior textiles is contemporary, useable and unique.
A dedicated and passionate textile designer I am experienced in a wide range of hand drawing and CAD techniques.
