Wings or Fins? is the debut collection of Chloe Watson showcasing innovative digital prints on luxurious silk and wool twills inspired by inks and melted wax.

The striking prints are juxtaposition with the creative knitwear.

The knitwear evolved from imagery of penguins from their early fluffy stage in life through to the shinny look of a full grown adult.

To capture the essence of the fluffy chicks extra fine merino wool was used along with alpaca and blue faced leister fibres.

Knitting passap patters and dipping then into latex created a fabric resembling a penguin’s waterproof skin. The thread of the sea carries through to the silhouette and pattern cutting where deepsea diving and scuba diving were research sources.

“I wanted to portray ‘Wings or Fins?’ as a collection where prints and knitwear subtly interact.

I believe that textiles and fashion is the perfect match and one is not as strong without the other.” explains Watson.
