My year in industry (gap year at the University of Westminster) centred on the customisation of leather garments under my own eponymous label Claire Barrow.

I started painting second hand leather biker jackets in 2010 with designs inspired by gang subcultures which were created ‘to order’ with each piece individually designed. 

My leather items have be used to globally renowned stylists and have been featured in magazines such as UK Vogue, i-D, Dazed and Confused, Elle, Arena Homme+ and Dust.

The jackets have been regularly worn by the singer Rihanna, who used two of my signature painted leather jackets in her recent ‘Loud’ tour as well as on the back cover of her ‘Talk that Talk” album.

In February I was featured in i-D Magazine as one of twelve designers in its ‘Class of 2012’. 

I have also in March developed a range for high end store Joseph which features my painted jackets, trousers and bags being stocked in their London flagship store and also stocked in their Paris and New York stores. 

My graduate collection, will be shown in May 2012.
