“My figurative ceramic sculptures depict women's distorted views regarding their bodies.
A fusion of texture and craft, woven steel wool and porcelain uniquely entwined. Harmony restored”

The above statement reflects my contemporary practice as a ceramic artist derived from embarking on a personal investigative journey surrounding the female form. Women are perpetually viewed as objects of desire from both the male and female observer. My work examines an eternal desire held by women striving to behold the perfect figure. What is the perfect figure? Does it truly exist?

I portray the female form through combining both textile and ceramic disciplines, drawn from possessing a diverse background within both fields of practice. This unique fusion and harmony has enabled me to produce a succession of fragile, distorted undergarments, encapsulating women’s vulnerabilities and insecurities surrounding their bodies.

Three of my porcelain garments were shortlisted by the Federation of British Artists ‘Threadneedle Figurative Prize’ (2008) exhibited at Mall Galleries, London.
