Elaine Bolt’s work includes small thrown and hand-built pieces, each varying in subtle aspects of shape and decoration. As a collection, these objects begin to develop connections between them and with the space they occupy. 

Elaine’s creative practice is influenced by her background as an archivist and by associated ideas of memory, place and narrative. Many of the works form a series that collectively suggest a meaning or invite others to imagine their own. 

Working mainly in porcelain, occasionally contrasted with darker and coarser clays, the pieces are reduction fired with surfaces finished in understated clear, green or pale celadon glazes and with contrasting oxides added to edges and rims. 

Elaine works from her studio in East Sussex and has exhibited at galleries and shows in Tokyo, London and around the South East of England.
