I am a Contemporary Applied Artist who specialises in Ceramics of an organic nature. My work consists of the combination of form, surface pattern, and colour, which also explore line and often involve multiples or clusters of simple forms with surface detail.
The process of making is very important to me and I feel passionate about the use of hand-skills when using this organic material. Therefore, all work is hand-built using the traditional process of coiling, combined with a contemporary fusion of colour and pattern to create a visual and elegant beauty.
My main source of inspiration is taken from plants, nature, and organic form. Having lived by the sea and surrounded by rural countryside all my life, there has been an endless supply of textures, patterns and forms for me to be inspired by. The main concern is to create work which encourages others to become more aware of pattern and form found in our surrounding environment.
After achieving a BA (Hons) in Surface Pattern Design 2:1, I have gained a wide range of skills which I would like to explore further, therefore allowing my work to evolve over time.
I am an enthusiastic person who thrives in a creative environment. I enjoy challenges and have gained many skills throughout my previous employment and experiences that are essential to any working or creative environment.
