I work in a very illustrative style taking inspiration from graphics, photography and objects from the past. I try to develop knit techniques that reflect the graphics I am influenced by and encompass my illustrative and quirky drawing style.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Rosy Sukkar (shoe designer), London, 2009/10
Worked on a collaborative project, designing and producing knitted fabrics to be incorporated into a shoe design collection.
Plum Textiles, London, September 2009.
Worked in the studio assisting the designer with knitting and finishing off/embellishing samples that were to be shown to clients in both Paris and New York.
Tricot Studio, London, August/September 2009.
Worked with both designers on various projects such as sketching ideas for garments, embellishing samples, creating garment ideas from fabrics, visiting shops to source information to then feedback and putting together yarn booklets with swatches from Pitti Filati for customers in Taiwan.
Central Saint Martins Menwear, June 2009.
Collaborated with two menswear students to knit pieces for a collection. Involved demonstrating different techniques to the students as they had very little knowledge of knit so clear communication skills were required.
Debenhams, London, November 2008.
Worked in the womenswear design office helping the knitwear designer. Involved designing beading patterns, stripe combinations, internet research, organising spec. sheets as well as general administrative tasks.
Julia Pines Studio, London, June 2008.
Worked with the designer knitting samples to be shown at both Pitti Filati and Indigo. Required learning new skills and techniques very quickly.
