Felix Mccormack ?
As a young aspiring furniture Maker i am aiming to create playful, elegant and highly usable objects. A key aim of my process is to be intuitive and constantly experimental, i want to push my skills as a maker and a designer.
3/3 Stool Lamp
This piece was inspired by the strength of threes. I wanted to make a light which was two tripods on top of each other. The Glass vessel is an old Pyrex chemical jar. Oak, braided Flex, Globe bulb.
Spargo Lamps
'Equip’Hôtel submission - Lighting'
The Spargo Lamp is a large floor Lamp, this collection of work represents experiments in using concrete within my work. It’s material I’ve wanted to intergrate into a few projects, I feel the combination of oak and concrete is very honest and appealing. Using such heavy duty materials means your producing products to last, which is an important part of my process.
The form of these lights is definitely inspired by the very animated nature of the classic spun aluminium desk lamp, such as an anglepoise. A classic example of this is the pixar lamp, I wanted these pieces to seem curiously animated in a similar way.
They are made from turned oak, cast concrete and are joined using stainless steel marine fixings and brass. The light is created by a 12v LED system.
Green Carboy Lamp
Turned Oak tripod base with a Carboy Storage vessel with has a light inside, you role the Carboy in the base to aim the light.
