The inspiration for this project comes from my own multicultural background. Interested in how immigrants absorb and re-interpret new cultures. Mixing Japanese traditional hand weaving 'sakiori', of recycling old rags with gaucho traditional clothing. Using denim as the signifier of the universal dresscode of today, not belonging to any particular culture anymore.

Born and raised in southern Brazil, Fernanda Fujiwara has been living in London for the past five years where she graduated from BA Womenswear in 2012. 
Inspired by the interactions between distinctive cultures: how people carry or dissimulate their own traditions in order to be part of a global community, Fernanda Fujiwara is a passionate researcher, looking to raise deeper reflections into how people dress nowadays.
