I’ve always had a fascination with the human body and my research into it and looking at it in detail is what made me question what jewellery was, what it is expected to be.

On an arranged visit to watch some surgery take place, I was able to gain an insight into the items attached to the body as part of a certain procedure, which was originally what stemmed my intrigue into unconventional jewellery.

People can generally understand how/where an item is worn on the body from the design, which is why I chose to include found objects as a ‘hint’ to the wearer.

The ‘shock value’ is an important factor in the concept of my collection. Something that is worn on the body immediately has connotations. Every person is completely different in appearance, culture, beliefs, etc.

However, we all share one common theme – the human body. Anything that challenges the human body is bound to cause certain sort of reactions from the viewer and the wearer alike. These are what I want to explore in my work.

Each piece is cast in wax, combined with found objects, and then electroformed in silver.
