I am a printed textiles designer and will be exhibiting hand printed fabrics for fashion at New Designers 2010.

I was inspired to create this collection of designs from my love of abstract expressionism. This led to using certain qualities of that art movement to create a varied collection.

These fabrics are a kaleidoscope of abstract styles that focus on colour, texture and depth. I was excited about the use of these elements by artists such as Mark Rothko, Patrick Heron and Roy Lichtenstein.

I re-created that feel by using a vibrant, rich colour palette with metallics and shimmers that focuses on brush marks intertwined with pattern and gloss for Autumn/Winter 2010/11.

My graduate collection consists of various techniques and fabrics. I have used a selection of different silks including jersey, crepe de chine and crepe satin silk.

I have worked these fabrics by hand utilising CAD skills with hand printing. I have added to this with a combination of dip dying techniques, glossing techniques and hand painting.

My target audience is the ready-to-wear female fashion market however I feel my collection and my style of design could be used diversely in other areas of textiles.

Completed Foundation Art and Design with a Merit.

Followed that with a BA(Hons) In Textiles and Surface Design.

I have completed two work placements in 2009 with London based Textiles Design Studios.
