My inspiration is mainly drawn from nature. I am fascinated with the contrast of simplicity and complexity, fragility and mightiness, destruction and renewal that exists in nature.

Inspiration for the latest project came from looking at the concept of nature and consumer culture and how overconsumption has contributed to the current environmental issues.

I strive to create complex, yet natural looking lighting structures from something very simple.  I enjoy using common household items and industrial materials, and through manipulation and transformation giving them a new identity and different purpose. Form, texture and surface quality of my sculptural lighting is very important, as viewers can experience it close up, look into it and touch it, similar to the way one would explore in nature.

Juxtaposing natural form and man-made material is intentional. Although I use various materials for each project the tendency for representing organic form and repetition is consistent throughout my work.
