Design, Interior and Applied Arts BA (Hons)

My journey as an applied artist has, so far, lead me to create a number of pieces designed to tell a story, raise awareness or educate my viewers. Most recently I have found inspiration in subjects relevant to science and the natural world.

Application of material is dependent on the message that I wish to convey. My recent work varies from paper lighting to wire and thread drawings, interactive displays and acrylic brooches. Each time my approach is sensitive yet intriguing.

Throughout my studies I have expanded my understanding of material process and contextual application. Although I can design and make independently of context, I have discovered that I can rise to the challenges of working to the requirements and boundaries of a specific space.

Exhibited works:

Sousei, commissioned by the Museum of Domestic Architecture, inspired by their ‘JAPANtastic’ display, 2009-10.
