Holly Hyams is a recent graduate from The University of Brighton and winner of the ‘Bloomstein Prize for use of Silver’. After gaining a distinction from Central St Martin’s, Holly has been fulfilling her passion for creating original jewellery on a four year MDes course in 3D Materials Practice.

Her recent eye-catching contemporary jewellery is inspired by the 16th century superstition that spiders foretell great fortune.

Her highly original forms have evolved from the ‘drawings’ of a live tarantula, its invisible tracks marked out by mapping pins which in turn are created with forms cast from Victorian suppository moulds.

The idea that beautiful ‘objects of desire’ can be created from such sinister and unlikely sources is one that fascinates her.
