Born and raised in Iran, Hossein Ansari has recently graduated from Birmingham City University with a degree in Visual Communication. He is a documentary photographer with a philosophy that a single still image should be able to narrate a story and connect to the audience on a deeper level than sight sense.

He has spent most of his time taking pictures and documenting traditions and events that indicates and compares cultural similarities and differences. His recent project shows how survivors of the war between Iran and Iraq keep the memories of their lost ones alive by decorating their graveyard.

He also has directed six short films and in a contrast to his photography style, he prefers story telling rather than documenting. As a director he is well influenced by big names such as Abbas Kiarostami, Darren Aronofsky, Lars Von Terier and Lynne Ramsey whom have lead him to a very exceptional style in narration.
