I have been exploring alternative construction techniques in vessel forms using non-traditional materials in conjunction with more conventional silversmithing processes.

Vladimir Arkhipov’s collection of Russian folk artifacts evidence ideas that are not pre-meditated, but objects created out of necessity; the result of the inventive human, improvising with what they have, to create and mend in times of need.

The influence from these innovations, combined with my interest in readymade fastenings from household objects and architectural design, have all inspired the way that I manipulate and join materials.

I am currently studyiong for an MA in Jewellery, Silversmithing and related products at, Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, under Prof. Jivan Astfalck.
