As a maker I relish the physical challenge of attempting to control a material that is in a constant state of metamorphosis.

The expressive possibilities and potential to alter the glass form directly are what first attracted me to blown glass. I further alter my forms and shape them off the iron, carving and cutting into the cold glass surface with diamond wheels.

My most recent body of work, 'introspect' features heavy, instinctive cuts and patterns over each pod like blown form.

The pieces in this series explore ideas of vulnerability and perception. Openings and lenses act as windows to the internal glass form, offering the viewer restricted glimpses. Further visual barrier is added through the glass surface being distorted by heavy cold work.
