The inspiration for Jessica’s work is derived from the delicacy of Japanese textiles and furniture such as Kimonos, lanterns and Shoji screens. It is also heavily influenced by birds; their texture, colours and intricacy.

With so much visual information she has produced a delicate pattern that has been digitally printed onto silk and used to make a range of cushions and a quilt.

The pattern itself is designed from sketches of birds, manipulated to form new shapes, which have then been repeated to form a geometric pattern; almost creating an optical illusion.

The pieces are embroidered by hand, influenced largely by the Japanese Kimonos.

The cushions vary in both size and shape, allowing them to be seen as either a collection or individually, making them commercially viable.
