This project was inspired by the opulence of Parisian interiors, the architecture and statues from the Louvre, and the vastly different surroundings of Camden Market in London.
The edginess and busy lifestyles, the buildings, the stall holders, the alternative people, the huge contrast of cultures and subcultures from Camden market led Jessica to contemplate a recent visit to Paris. Here she also found a huge source of vastly different imagery. The grandeur of the architecture and interiors, and the sense of styles that are vastly different to that of Camden Lock create a fusion of visuals and an eclectic mix of stylish qualities. Her collection is also influenced and inspired by Balmain and Burberrys spring/summer 2011 collections.
Jessica creates one off, unique, handmade shoes for women, constructed from a range of her own woven materials. She uses rich colours with metallic threads, printed fabrics that contain flocking and foiling, incorporating visual inspiration from both Paris and London. The shoes are also embellished with studs and spikes, the heels and soles play a key feature in the design with three-dimensional aspects inspired by the sculptures and ornately decorated rooftops of the Louvre.
She creates pieces that are sophisticated, fun and youthful, yet alternative. They are a mixture of working ideas and concepts for catwalks and high-end boutiques.
Jessica’s designs are intended to catch the eye of fashion forward individuals who like to stand out and make a statement with opulent colours, decadent embellishments and an individual twist. Her target markets are women who appreciate art and design, and value the time and energy it takes to create a bespoke pair of shoes.
