I am intrigued by the shapes, textures and colours of nature. These inspire, and are reflected in, my work.

I am intrigued by the shapes, textures and colours of nature. These inspire, and are reflected in, my work.

Through painting, drawing and photography, I make these patterns my own and develop them into exciting constructed textile designs by using traditional, handmade techniques, finished with a contemporary twist.

For this body of work I have studied a range of fungi. My pure wool knitted pieces are hand-dyed, using plant-based pigments, whilst texture is created through Shibori, felting and hand embroidery.

I have applied these embellishments to the surface of pre-loved and re-tailored Harris Tweed Jackets so that they appear to grow on the surface, in the same way as the fungi which inspired them grow on fallen trees.
