Jon is a talented and ambitious potter who uses clay to express his vision of the world through functional ceramics.

“The aim of my work is to offer a snapshot of the importance of texture in my visually impaired world. I am a potter with a passion for making functional thrown ceramics. Throughout my life I have tried to verbally explain the limits, characteristics of my sight and the way I perceive the world around me. I have found my creative voice and vocation through making pots.

"My current work is inspired by the origins of tea culture in China, especially Yixing teapot forms. 

"I have developed a process of surface treatment using reactive slips. Coupled with this, I have cut and stretched clay and used the unpredictable outcomes of reduction gas firing to produce a highly tactile surface”.

Jon will be exhibiting at New Designers in London from 29 June to 2 of July at the business Design Centre, Upper Street, Islington, London N1.
