Ultimately my interests and aims for my production work involve, items of mainly jewellery that integrate some form of clever mechanical elements. These could apply to both the aesthetic of the piece, or in the way that the objects join together.

I would like to create designs that through a combination of different materials and techniques, give the viewer/beholder an element of surprise in the way that they function.

I will be looking at modern day architectural forms for inspiration, and using a combination of technological skills, combined with traditional making techniques.

I think there is a limitless opportunity to create objects that sit in between the commercial and conceptual.

A major inspiration for my thinking comes from the works of German Jeweller Friedrich Becker, in particular his designs that integrate kinetic movement, and place emphasis almost as much on the engineering of the works, as of the jewellery in itself.

In essence, I feel it to be necessary to work to my strengths, utilizing the exciting opportunities I see available by using CAD to create my work. But also not lose sight of my passion for the more traditional techniques of manufacture.
