Influenced by the photographic evidence of expeditions to The South Pole and The Antarctic at the beginning of the twentieth century and old family photographs from the same era. Inspired by a notion of being inappropriately prepared to deal with one’s surroundings; formal attire being worn for climbing and other outdoor pursuits. Shapes and textures from adventures like The Terra Nova Expedition are exaggerated; this inflated manipulation of scale being inspired by my grandfather’s amusing and impractical mountaineering attire.

Self-initiated project for up and coming brand Studio Nicholson, to design a capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2013, with a focus on print.
Inspired by the story of the Lighthouse Keeper, and the subtle, calm inspiration of seaside life, the narrative focused on the young son of a lighthouse keeper, combining the feelings of excitement, freedom, play, loneliness and solitude.

September-October 2011, paid internship in New York for Brooks Brothers.
Internship won through a compulsory competition at Kingston University.
Working within the womenswear design team, specifying in the University and Black Fleece collections.
Researched and designed a range of jackets for the University Line-Spring 2013, to be put into production and sold on the shop floor.
Boards presented to the Head Merchandiser at the end of internship, demonstrating the 5 jacket styles designed.
