As a textile designer I thrive on using often-traditional techniques and processes in unexpected ways to produce work that is frequently inspired by elements of nature mixed with architectural forms and structure.

With a focus on the collections of flora and fauna of the Victorian botanist, my graduate project aims to explore this idea further with the creation of a selection of interior products that reflect the juxtaposition of the architectural and botanical features of glasshouses.

The use of both hand embroidery and print allows for flexibility within my designs.  The exploration of the process of pressing flowers for example, led to an exciting use of inkjet transfer prints to create the illusion that flowers had been pressed directly into the fabrics, as well as providing a key starting point for stitch exploration.
