This project has allowed me to contemplate family ties in and inheritable craft skills. After the death of my Grandmother I reflected on the loss of her skills as a seamstrice, in relation to my own practice

I turned to the living crafts people in my family for inspiration, the men. Most of which work within the building industry in one form or another.

Without technical training in the trades, I view much of the process aesthetically rather than technically.

I aim to interpret, in a visually creative, exciting and innovative manner materials not normally intended for decorative purposes, in order to transform them into surfaces that would be both functional and interesting additions to the living environment.

The materials I work with are reclaimed industrial materials form building sites and workshops. They are up-cycled into new and interesting uses in living contexts through the use of paint, printmaking, lamination, parquetry and laser engraving.
