As a maker, I am often inspired by history and symbolism.

I often contrast my own Welsh culture  with others within my work through  materials and processes. I enjoy working in wood metal and plastics. 

The relation between the hand made and the machine made intrigues me. 

This project came about after a conversation on Kilimanjaro with a porter disscussing farming. Some cultural differences became obvious on the topic of cattle. In Wales we value our cattle by the quality, while in Africa it's the quantity that gives you status and wealth, and a higher chance of survival. 

This led me to research more deeply into the importance of owning cattle and how it affects your ownership, status and wealth within society.

I took inspiration from farming objects and methods to contrast with Masai tribe jewellery and beliefs surrounding cattle through various materials and processes.

I enjoy a challenge, through learning new skills and taking my work to new areas that I haven't been before.

After graduating on the 3d Deisgn course at Manchester school of Art with first class honours, i am now undertaking a MA design course at Manchester school of Art, developing new range of functional kitchen utensils, developed and inspired from the 'cattle' project, alongside developing new jewellery for a live project in Manchester.
