Mona Tripp is an enthusiatic and passionate designer, who loves making things. She is fascinated by traditional crafts.

Her design buzz all started from a hobby, designing and making furniture for family and friends. These projects included bookcases, shelving and storage units, desks and garden climbing frames.

Mona's interest in traditional craftsmanship and her creative energy led her to study Furniture Design and Making at London Metropolitan University, where she gained tradtional furniture construction skills as well as computer drawing and 3D modeling techniques, modern manufacturing knowledge, and a deeper understanding of the importance of sustainability. She seeks ways to mingle both traditional and modern methods, to produce functional and aesthetically pleasing furniture products.

Mona has been announced as the winner of the 2012 Derek Austin Award for Cabinet Making, for the work undertaken on the Smiley Chair and the King & Queen Hallway Tidy project. She has also been nominated for two further awards at the Cass Summer Exhibition.
