Through my artwork I want to convey dynamism and movement in forged metal. These two characteristics contain many sub-genres such as gracefulness, fluidity, energy and flux that I wish to incorporate in my work.

Artist’s Statement

Through my artwork I want to convey dynamism and movement in forged metal. These two characteristics contain many sub-genres such as gracefulness, fluidity, energy and flux that I wish to incorporate in my work. 

Intriguingly I have found a lot of these elements in Eastern writing, in particular Arabic and Mongolian manuscripts. I draw inspiration from the details of their lines, curves and serifs.

I am also inspired by the natural energy and power found in waves.

Combining these two sources I take my ink drawings and forge them into metal compositions. 

I want my work to reflect the heritage and history of blacksmithing in a contemporary way.

Ambitions and intentions for the future are to continue exploring this theme expressed both in large and small scale work.
