I am highly motivated, personable individual with a great interest in and passion for garment construction and product design, specifically in outerwear and sportswear.  My work evolved from my interest in the human being and the human body; it’s shape, dimension and functionality, to the human psyche; the way we interact, communicate and live our daily lives. My final collectionwas hybrid sportswear based on a game of musical statues. I developed interactive garments that became animated with the wearer’s movement. I am currently working as a freelance designer and am looking for a new challenge through which I can share my enthusiasm for and knowledge of hybrid design, future of materials and garment construction.

P3i is a research centre looking into the future ways of living.  As a consultant my roles included the development of interactive wearable systems through fashion and apparel integration, researching the development of specialist flexible and customizable materials and crafting soft technologies for health, safety, performance and lifestyle. 

September 2011 – November 2012: Studio XO

(Freelance)

I was working as a Senior Design Assistant within a small fashion technology studio.  My range of experience allows me to be involved from the initial research, through to the design and design development into the production.  My roles include sourcing visual research, producing inspiration documents, developing colour stories and producing inspiration documents to communicate to the client and seed into the design team.  My strengths lie in the design and design development stage.  During the production stage I take on the responsibility of overseeing production, organising and preparing the technical packs to hand over to the manufacturers/manufacturing team.

• Stoli Vodka Advertisement campaign: Production of portable spray painting system and light up head phones.

Working as first assistant to Nancy Tilbury; roles include producing visual
research/inspiration documents, sourcing, prototyping and sampling as well as body experiments for clients. Additionally I collect and gather information for Nancy Tilbury in her specialist area of Fashioning Technology by desk research and trend development.

This was a future forecast project for internal innovation publication.  My roles include sourcing materials, pattern cutting and digital draping, prototyping and documentation of work in progress and assisting in the production of a short film.

Cell to Cell - June 2012

'Cell to Cell' is a video installation commissioned by the Imperial College London as part of a project called 'Beautiful science'.  The project was created to connect scientists with artists and create an environment where they can communicate and cross-pollinate ideas.  The video was shown in an exhibition in London June 2012.

Nov 2009 - Jan 2010: Aitor Throup Studio. During the lead up to Aitor Throup’s ‘Legs’ Collection.    I was selected from a large range of applicants to work in Aitor Throup’s studio as a Studio Assistant. My duties included sewing samples as toiling, fabric preparation and fabric sourcing.

Oct 2009 – Aquascutum Assistant Pattern Cutter
I worked alongside the Head Cutter for Aquascutum’s collection preparing for production S/S10.
