My work is inspired by under-sea life such as shells and coral. I wanted to analyse the forms of sea life such as shells, coral, and deep-sea fish, and simplify the forms to translate into glass.

I did not want to “copy” nature- but instead take the “essence” of the forms and combine ideas to create my own library of species.

I have used glass in my work to convey fluidity, fragility and transparency. I find it a fantastic medium to work with because it is spontaneous, and has a natural fluid quality itself.

 “We know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the deep-sea.” This notion has been a huge inspiration to my work. 

To no surprise we are still finding more species each day: New forms, new patterns. The thought that any species could be infinite in design inspires me.
