Sarah Brown creates contemporary glass pieces which evolve from photographs and drawings produced whilst out and about, mainly in London.
Everyday people and their actions whilst interacting with their urban environment and others nearby inspire her greatly.
The ‘ignored’ people are of particular interest giving Sarah the opportunity to try to guess where they are going and what they are doing: shopping, fulfilling their jobs, and carrying on with life whilst ignoring unusual happenings around them.
From this Sarah creates line drawings and pieces together stories within the drawings and photographs by finding people she has seen earlier in the day on her travels. These all lead to combining images together to create scenes or combine multiple images into one collection.
To Sarah the glass and line drawings remove the identities of the people and allow the viewer to use their imagination to fill the spaces within the pieces.
