3D Materials Practice BA (Hons)
Highly creative ceramic artist working on small and large scale ceramic installations.
Driven by the experimentation process, the work pushes the boundaries of porcelain in an attempt to shift audiences’ perceptions of ceramics as a material.
The work explores ideas of 'the fear of the dark' from childhood through to adolescence.
Focussing on the comforting aspect, this body of work explores metamorphic qualities that seize an object of fear and turn it in to something unfamiliar, something reassuring and even desirable.
The overpowering incapacity to discriminate between reality and fantasy when one is afraid of the dark, is fabricated through the malleable nature and plasticity of the clay.
The use of ceramics references the unsettling environment, in a similar manner to the unreliable nature of your senses. Focusing on the fragility and translucency to deliver modern and dynamic qualities to the work.
