Sarah’s work focuses around the investigation and experimentation with the material wood veneer.

Concentrating on its manipulation to create spectacular body adornment in the form of large dramatic collars and oversized statement pieces of jewellery.

By using long thin strips of veneer she builds up layers to produce pieces that sculpt and surround the body to change its silhouette, as well as providing a sense of encompassing protection and defined personal space for the wearer.

Inspiration comes from her fascination with the lines created by the organic, the free flowing and often uncontrollable forms of nature.

Sarah’s work removes wood veneer from its original context challenging its function and relevance in contemporary jewellery.
