The work that Victoria has created, throughout the years of her Printed Textiles Surface Pattern Design BA (Hons) degree, at Leeds College of Art & Design, has mainly been focused on the reduction of surfaces, using paper as the main material.

She has patiently hand cut and laser cut designs creating layers and layers of delicate units that she painstakingly arranges together, to create wall coverings, which flutter in the breeze, allowing light to pass through them and filter around them. This creates shadows and additional layers behind and around them, through the use of light.

Additionally, she has looked at and used methods such as devoré as a reduction in cloth surfaces. Victoria has created a variety of fabrics that are delicate but bold in colour, depicting the floral theme that runs throughout her latest project, reflecting on the floral trends that are currently very popular within the pattern industry.

The floral images that Victoria uses are mainly of English growing flowers. However, her colour palette is based more on the dramatic colours of exotic flowers, such as the orchids exhibited at Kew gardens.

Alongside her reduction of surfaces, she creates a collection of hand drawn surfaces that she spends time colouring in, using Photoshop programmes and putting into repeat patterns. With the finished elements, she shines light onto the pieces and contains light within them. This creates an interactive wall covering that will project a layered collection of light, shadow and pattern onto the viewer, as well as the interior of a room, enabling the viewer to become part of the installation.
