About:

I enjoy playing with colours and sculpting knitted fabric to create unconventional knitted textile objects. I like to try using the range of everyday found materials as it gives me new creativity and opportunity to explore the potential of how knitted textile can be combined with different media and  transformed into unordinary outcomes. My work is expressed through the combination of colours. Matching weird colours always offers me fun and exciting moments. The fascination about knitting is that knitted fabric can go from a flat pallet with detailed stitching to a 3 dimensional dynamic sculpture. I enjoy working on both ways. To achieve a reflecting concept and narrative of my imagination, I start from sourcing images and possible materials while painting and drawing to build up the colour story.  My final project is an experiment and a challenge to make a connection between interior textile and  fashion textile as I have developed the technique of creating 'carpeted surface' 3D pattern with combination of heavy and light yarns, organic materials and manmade yarns. This contrast creates contemporary unordinary knitted body ornaments

Under the theme of paganism I experimented to achieve the atmosphere of colourful masquerade associated with the busy patterns of ritual costumes used by witch doctors. Dyed sheep skin, fringes and euphoric colours invoke the movement of ritual dance.

Although it looks feather soft, this composition is made of dip dyed plastic strips. The repetition and different layers and sizes creates the feeling of movement and anamorphosis.
