About
After studying game graphic development, i made a major switch and decided to study jewellery at Sint Lucas Antwerp where i completed my bachelors and masters degree. The majority of my work is inspired by my love and passion for video games and other nerdy stuff related to it. By using my love for games and jewellery, i challenge myself how to combine the two into a physical object, wearable or not.
I want to share the experience of collecting in and outside of video games. The adventure of hunting down all items that you want to have by completing missions or by buying everything with real money. However, the obsession to collect everything doesn’t stop in the virtual world. The amount of merchandise and goodies that you can buy from your favorite game is almost endless. Digital loot boxes, Pokémon card packs and figurine blind boxes are all systems where you buy a product without knowing what’s actually in it. Beneath the surface of playful design lies a manipulative system that enables addiction. In addition, I also question the value of these items. Despite being made from plastic and paper, these toys can be worth a lot of money. By using materials used in traditional jewellery craft, I played around with the values of these objects.
