Chua explains: 'The intention of this project is raise awareness to parents who have three kids or more, alerting them on how serious middle child syndrome can be if not taken care of. This project aims to reduce the mental illnesses in the youths who are experiencing from neglect and lack of support from their parents. In addition, this project aims to educate parents to be aware of their child’s welfare and efforts.' Making Room by Lydia Tee is an app that aims to help people struggling with the 'new normal', specifically those who now spend the majority of their time at home. App users can develop new daily routines and set goals to de-clutter and re-energise their living space to prevent themselves from feeling stuck or smothered by their surroundings. Tee writes: 'This guided platform helps you to adopt new habits, find and build personalised social communities with public discussion rooms, and have fun creating interactive virtual rooms. Making it an overall enjoyable way for you to stay motivated in your new-normal lifestyle.' Breather by Emily Liew is an animated film that focuses on the importance of a healthy work-life balance. 'Work can sometimes be overwhelming with endless amounts of tasks to do, there are times where we might feel burnt out mentally and physically. With the use of visual storytelling, the animation will bring you through the story of three individuals that are experiencing fatigue from work and find out how they overcome them,' explains Liew. Sophia Tang created a brand identity for the Tealistic boutique tea house. The branding utilises a calming colour palette, delicate typography and a hand drawn logo. Phua Yan Ling's Thank You For project allows people to send ecards, physical packages and has online stickers for social media that help people say a simple 'thank you'. ![]() Edi & Fifi is an interactive storybook by Choong Yi Ying that makes use of physical and digital elements to develop its narrative. The first book in the series of interactive storybooks is The Monster In The Cave: 'Every book will have a moral behind the story to educate children of good values,' says Choong Yi Ying. Ang Jia Yi's A Day Without ART is an animated film about a world where art doesn't exist. 'Without art, we would be living on a blank canvas, with no thought or joy and just plain dullness. Imagine what it would be like purchasing something at the market, everything looks the same or maybe they might also taste the same? With plain and boringness, what's called "yesterday", "tomorrow" and "today" would all be the same,' says Ang Jia Yi. RMIT Singapore's BA Communication Design 2021 graduates have created a range of projects that explore typography, animation, user interface, editorial and branding. ARTS THREAD takes a look at the class of 2021's projects.
