The BA Graphic Design graduates from Willem de Kooning Academy (WDKA) created a range of final projects that deal with happiness, play, the language of porn and gentrification.
Pauline Feitz created the #Toxicvibesonly campaign to combat society’s obsession with positivity and how a distorted view on happiness can lead to unhappiness. The campaign features posters in pastel colours inspired by motivational Pinterest posts, but rather than feature a twee slogan, each poster contains a toxic slogan. In addition to the posters, Feltz created an interactive installation that represents the pressure millennials feel to be happy. By pressing a red button, viewers watch a large inflatable smiley face grow within a plastic cube, eventually getting squashed and compressed against the cube walls.
