A VAGABOND NOBILITY. Imagine a world in which your identity rested solely on the type of home you lived in. Branding someone as homeless cements their economic situation as their defining characteristic. Homelessness and poverty are both huge, growing issues. Following my placement year in London, I came to realise that it was something I desired to research into, as I witnessed how vast the problem is in a bigger city. Overconsumption in our modern-day society and homelessness are polar opposites, therefore, this project investigates both different values of life. The motive that drives my collection is honouring the creativity and initiative of people who form ‘make do’ looks with assorted garments. It depicts what an individual would be left with if they continued the bad habit of overconsuming goods; a combination of 'make do' and to glam to give a damn.
