Pac man- senior collection

For my senior collection I was inspired by the 1980s arcade game Pac Man. I used the characters in the game for my silhouettes and embellishments, it is all very literal and fun. I used the shapes of the characters in the game for my silhouettes. Almost all of the looks have in some way a ghost eating Pac Man or Pac Man eating a ghost, its something you don't see right away but when you do its very funny. I wanted to create bold shapes from the game so I meticulously selected thick fabrics, I even had to double bond some of them to get the stiff structure I wanted. The collection has more than 1500 patches that I designed and digitized myself. My mom and I stitched all of them out using her home embroidery machine. I collaborated with jewelry artist Ryan Hsiang. He added LED lights and also 3D printed three sets of headphones that connect to a vintage Walkman. I wanted to use inspiration from the past but use current technology to bring it to life. Images shot by: Randy Brooke, GettyImages Danielle Rueda
