Do you still make enough time to have fun? What is play to you? PLAYHOOD questions today’s performance society and starts a dialogue with the viewer. This humanwear collection gives one a new perspective on play, which originates from deep-rooted memories. I grew up in a soccer family, where participating is more important than winning. It’s a memory that is dear to me and that takes me back to a carefree time. Soccer is not only a personal fascination of mine, but can also serve as a recognition point for others. It’s after all, the biggest game played in our society. The collection is a fusion of alienated soccer gear and formal wear. You’ll find interactive elements such as hidden messages which can be found with black light*, a wearable soccer table and funhouse mirror ties. PLAYHOOD shows how play can benefit our mental health. This point of view comes from my personal experiences. For about four years, my dad has been mentally ill. He was diagnosed with OCPD, also called obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. The research is a exploration of memories, the father/daughter relationship and how soccer (and play) acts as a binder within our family. Many see play as something only children do, but this project search for ways to show that playing for adults can be cool too. So, “Don’t grow the fuck up”. *https://www.youtube.com/shorts/42q92RrSf4s
